A member’s medical coverage was being changed from one plan to another and the carrier’s system was not yet updated to reflect the new benefits or eligibility information.  The member had several scheduled appointments for tests and procedures and needed the help of their Patient Advocate to immediately contact the providers so they would have the new correct plan information and could verify eligibility and benefits.  The Patient Advocate contacted and provided each of the provider’s offices with the new eligibility and benefit information needed to treat the member.  The member was then able to pay the correct copay amount.  Plus, the out-patient facility even agreed to require no up front payment from the member and to file the claim with the carrier first and wait until the carrier processed and paid the claim before billing the member for the patient responsibility amount.  This is what the member had to say about the services received from The Purple Card®:
